Stefan emailed me saying he had some 4001 Blue-Black and wanted to compare it to Tanzanite to see how suitable a replacement it really is. I sent him some samples of the ink and he wrote an incredibly thorough and comprehensive review/comparison of the two inks.

Thanks to Stefan for this thorough review and to the Goulets for providing him with the materials. If the Pelikan Blue-Black that I stockpiled in my secret bunker ever runs out, Tanzanite will be on my list of alternatives. R&K Salix looks like another option.
ReplyDeleteStefan really deserves all the credit here, this is one of the more thorough reviews I've seen! Salix would probably be a good option too, as you're getting water resistance on top of it all :)
